WEDNESDAY, APRIL 10 FOOD SHELF HOURS: 12 NOON TO 6 PM

The Food Shelf will be open on Wednesday, April 10, from 12 Noon to 6 PM.

Please remember to bring your proof of residency (POR) if you are a new client or have been asked to provide it previously. Examples of PORs are utility bills, medical bills, or any recent document reflecting your name and current Colchester address.

Please line up in front of the school and DO NOT BLOCK either the entrance or exit from the school.

If you need to park in Claussen’s parking log, please DO NOT BLOCK access to the mailbox.

Donations: We appreciate your generosity and if you are thinking of organizing a food drive, please visit our website. On the Donate page of the website, you will find a list of items we stock on the Client Shopping List page. Clients benefit from donations selected from this list. Volunteers are available on Wednesday from 11 AM to 12 Noon to handle donations while they prepare for the day.

We also appreciate financial donations which provide funds towards our purchases of food as defined on our shopping lists.

Please note the Food Shelf operations with an all-volunteer staff and financial donations are used to cover the cost of food and utilities. Please visit the Donate page on our website for ways to support our mission.

The Food Shelf is located at 245 Main Street, Colchester, between Claussen’s Greenhouse and Union Memorial School.

Year in Review: 2022

As these unusual times persist, the Food Shelf continues with significant changes for the safe distribution of groceries for both our clients and volunteers. The fourth quarter of 2022 included: 360 visits to the Food Shelf and 984 people served. Your generous food donations for the quarter totaled 13,420 pounds, which included turkeys and dinner fixing.

Throughout 2023, we received 28,237 pounds of groceries! Below are the total donations (in pounds) for each quarter. Additional statistics dating back to 2011 can be found by selecting “Our Impact” from the main menu.

Since 2008, the Colchester Food Shelf has been registered as a Network Partner of the Vermont Foodbank. As a Network Partner, food can be purchased at discounted prices, to help supplement food received from the community at large.

The Food Shelf relies for help and supplies on continued donations from Colchester residents, churches, schools, organizations, and businesses.

Where is the food shelf located?
The Colchester Community Food Shelf is located between Claussen’s Greenhouse and Union Memorial School in the old fire station in the village of Colchester .

When is the food shelf open?
The CCFS is open on Wednesdays from 12 Noon to 6 PM and the First Saturday of each month from 9 AM to 11 AM.
